A big weekend of quilting – Sunday.
Today I headed down to Geelong, well… actually Fyansford which is about 5km west of Geelong and about 1 hour from home. I was to meet the Victorian Quilt Study Group girls for lunch at the Batesford Hotel at 12.00 noon. Then on to visit Jennifer at ‘A Piece of Cloth’ to see her wonderful vintage fabrics.
Being a little early I decided to drive into Geelong to have look around as I haven’t been there for a while. That was before I passed a sign…. a sign saying ‘Antique Vintage Fair’. One U-turn and a vintage fur coat later I was off to meet the girls, albeit a little late by then.
When Janet asked if I was late due to the road works, I don’t think she was expecting my answer… ‘no I was buying a fur coat’. It was certainly the last thing I thought I would be buying that day… patchwork fabric yes, but a fur coat ?
After having a very nice lunch we headed off to ‘A Piece of Cloth’ which is in a characterful old heritage listed blue-stone building on the site of the old Barwon Paper Mills.
The two fabrics below caught my eye. A fat quarter of the little birds and two of the green geometric pattern went home with me.
I had a very nice weekend!
