I spent a wonderful afternoon at Wonga Park at the Quilts in the Barn Exhibition. Linda does a fantastic job organizing this annual event as a fundraiser for breast cancer research.

This year’s theme was ‘All Things Chintz’ and featured quilts from the book A Promenade in a Dutch Garden by Petra Prins and An Moonen. Below: The amazing Linda Collins and the very talented Di Hall (nee Ford) amongst the fabrics, books and quilts on display.

There was a tempting selection of books published by Quiltmania on offer and I couldn’t resist ordering Chintz Quilts from the Poos Collection. A few pieces of chintz fabric was added to my stash too. The weather was fantastic and I always love visiting Linda’s property as it reminds me of the big country garden I had before moving back to Melbourne. I do miss it, but now I have more time for all things quilting.

I had arranged to meet up with my dear friend Fran (left in the above RHS photo) and her friend Margie, also pictured with me below. We sat and chatted around the quilt-covered tables and enjoyed tea and cake in the garden.

On my way home I stopped at Warrandyte to have a browse through the antique shop. I picked up two unused vintage green and white Irish linen tea towels and two Italian glass lollie jars.  The tea towels are for a project I have in mind using some vintage textiles and the lollie jars are great for storing buttons etc. at the Studio. I had a really enjoyable afternoon. Can’t wait for that book to arrive!
